Privacy Policy for Waik
Last updated: June 11, 2026
Waik ("we," "us," or "the app") is an iOS alarm app developed by Shaan Patel. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app handles, how it's used, and your choices.
Overview
Waik is local-first. Your alarms, streaks, settings, and history are stored on your device. The app does not require an account, and we do not sell your personal information. The information that leaves your device is limited to: mission-verification photos (sent transiently for verification), anonymous usage and diagnostic data, and subscription information handled by Apple and our subscription provider, each described below.
Information the app handles
Photos for mission verification. Some wake-up missions ask you to take a photo (for example, of your made bed or of you completing an exercise) to verify you've completed the mission. When you take such a photo, the image is sent to our verification service (operated using Cloudflare Workers and OpenAI's API) solely to perform a real-time check of whether the mission was completed. Under our terms with this provider, these images are processed only to perform the verification, are not used to train the provider's models, and are not retained as part of your profile. The provider may retain transmitted content transiently in abuse-monitoring logs (up to 30 days) before deletion, except where longer retention is legally required. We do not keep verification images on our own servers.
Photos saved locally for Memories. If you successfully complete a photo mission, that photo may be saved locally on your device so you can view it in the app's Memories feature. These photos stay on your device and are not uploaded to our servers. You can remove them by deleting the associated data in the app or by deleting the app.
Alarms, streaks, and settings. Your alarms, wake-up history, streaks, and preferences are stored locally on your device and are not transmitted to us.
Usage analytics. We use PostHog, a product-analytics provider, to collect anonymous information about how the app is used — for example, app installs and attribution (how you found the app), onboarding progress, when alarms are set, mission activity, feature usage, and session and device information (such as device type and operating system version). We use this to understand how people use Waik, find where the experience can be improved, and measure our marketing. This analytics data is not used to identify you personally, and we do not sell it. Where required, we will request your permission before any tracking that involves your device's advertising identifier.
Diagnostics and crash data. We use Sentry, an error- and crash-reporting provider, to collect diagnostic information when the app encounters an error or crashes — for example, crash reports, error logs, the app version, the type of device, and the operating system version. We use this solely to detect, diagnose, and fix bugs and stability issues. This diagnostic data is not used to identify you personally, is not used for advertising, and we do not sell it.
Subscription information. Waik offers an auto-renewable subscription. Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store, and subscription status is managed using RevenueCat, a third-party provider that helps us verify and manage subscriptions. Apple and RevenueCat handle this information under their own privacy policies. We do not receive or store your payment card details.
Notifications. If you grant permission, the app schedules local notifications (such as bedtime and subscription reminders) on your device. These are generated and delivered locally.
Camera and permissions
Waik requests camera access only to capture mission-verification photos, and only when you choose to complete a photo mission. The app requests notification and alarm permissions to deliver alarms and reminders. You can manage these permissions at any time in your device's Settings.
Information we do not collect
Waik does not require an account, and we do not collect your name, email, contacts, location, or precise GPS data. We do not sell your personal information. We do not use mission-verification photos for advertising or to build profiles about you.
